Marina Fabbri interviews the author of The Long Knives, who shot to worldwide fame in 1993 for his novel Trainspotting. And, as happened with his 2008 novel Crime, the investigations of detective Ray Lennox will once again become a television miniseries
The Best Film in the International Competition will be selected by Cinzia Bomoll, Daniel Cohen, and Manuela Velasco. For the Caligari Prize, the young jury of roughly 80 students and cinephiles will be coordinated by Manlio Gomarasca (president), Maurizio Di Rienzo (coordinator), and Anna Maria Pasetti (tutor).
The short films will be screened before each film in competition, after which they can be viewed on the Luce Archives and CinecittàNews websites.
Among the 13 films in the Official Selection, several titles are sure to stir intense debate. “It may well be that Marlowe and Spade have had their day,” write Marina Fabbri and Giorgio Gosetti, “and perhaps even James Bond has to surrender to age and technology. But they could always make a comeback, as is often the case with imaginary heroes that light the way to the future.”
Noir in Festival unfolds in Milan from December 3rd to the 8th, 2022, with a packed program of cinematic and literary delights that pays tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s genius on the 30th anniversary of Reservoir Dogs. It kicks off with an explosive poster for the 32nd edition, designed by world-class Italian cartoonist Paolo Bacilieri.
Deadline for submission is November 14th 2022.
The award is Italy’s highest honor for lifetime achievement bestowed on a master of the literary genre of thrillers and noir novels.
