The Black Panther Award goes to "Brief History of a Family"

The first film by Chinese filmmaker JJ Lin comes out the winner of the international competition. The Claudio Caligari Prize goes to “Mimì: The Prince of Darkness”

The jury for the international competition, composed of the U.K. director and producer James Jones (President), Chiara Caselli (actress, director, and photographer), Fulvio Risuleo (director), and Letizia Toni (actress), has unanimously bestowed the 2024 Black Panther Award of the 34th edition of Noir in Festival on:
JIA TING JIAN SHI – BRIEF HISTORY OF A FAMILY by JJ Lin

and has released the following statement:
“If it is true that the noir genre is a sentiment used to tell a story, the film on which we have bestowed our unique and prestigious award may be considered an example of this way of seeing the world: in its ability to bring a cross-section of society to the screen without ever being banal, and with great sensitivity; in its original and poetic directing; and its skillful use of a few choice elements, infused with mystery.”

The People’s Jury, made up of young film students and cinephiles, in keeping with the tradition, and coordinated by Maurizio Di Rienzo, alongside experts Nicole Bianchi, Anna Maria Pasetti, and Giulio Sangiorgio (IULM delegate), has viewed and voted on the six shortlisted titles and decreed the winner of the 9th edition of the 2024 Claudio Caligari Prize – arranged jointly by Noir in Festival, IULM, and Cinecittà News, and bestowed on the best Italian noir film of the year – to be
