The writer and illustrator from Cagliari, and creator of this year’s poster, meets with Noir audiences to talk about all her fascinating and unsettling worlds
An eclectic artist born in Sardinia’s Phoenician and Punic capital, Vanna Vinci got her start in Italian comics in the 1980s, her first book published by Granata Press. Since then, she has never stopped telling and drawing stories, working with leading publishers in Italy abroad, such as Sergio Bonelli, Feltrinelli, Rizzoli, Dargaud, Planeta, and Hachette. Her universe ranges from more personal, everyday tales, verging on fantasy, to the humorous figure of the Bambina Filosofica and comic book biographies of iconic, larger-than-life female personalities, like Luisa Casati, Tamara de Lempicka, Frida Kahlo, and Maria Callas, along with the famed courtesans of fin-de-siècle Paris. Currently, Vinci is at work on a mini-series called Viaggio notturno, for Sergio Bonelli Editore. She has won numerous awards, the latest being the prestigious Romics d’Oro in 2024.
