The tribute to French noir continues with a four-way conversation between the director of the Polars du Sud Festival in Toulouse, Jean-Paul Vormus, and the authors Hervé Le Corre, Jérôme Loubry, and Franck Thilliez. Noir’s international film competition wraps up with Drunken Birds. The Conversations series hosts authors Loriano Macchiavelli and Mariolina Venezia.

The tribute that this 31st edition of Noir in Festival has arranged to honor contemporary French noir, in its iterations on both the screen and the printed page, continues on Tuesday.

Under the pull of the Raymond Chandler Award, bestowed on Guillaume Musso on Sunday, December 12th, Noir is devoting a panel discussion tomorrow, Tuesday, the 14th, to a fresh look at the French polar, in a four-way conversation between Hervé Le Corre, Jérôme Loubry, the director of  the Polars du Sud Festival in Toulouse, Jean-Paul Vormus; and Franck Thilliez joining remotely from Paris (at 11:30 am, IULM 6 – Sala dei 146).

The last film on Noir’s international competition lineup speaks French (Canadian) as well: Drunken Birds by Ivan Grbovic (at 6:30 pm, Notorious Cinemas Gloria), a tale of love and flight from Mexico to Quebec.
What’s more, out of competition, there’s a film premiere not to be missed on Tuesday: Censor, the sparkling debut of woman filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond, whose film pays homage to the horror films of the 1980s. And the last of the Italian films in the running for the Caligari Prize also screens on Tuesday: Il mio corpo vi seppellirà by Giovanni La Pàrola (at 5:30 pm, IULM 6 – Sala dei 146).

The literary lights on the Tuesday program are two major authors of Italian genre fiction, meeting with festgoers tomorrow afternoon. At 4 pm, at the Teatro Filodrammatici, Paolo Roversi will present Loriano Macchiavelli and his 8 indagini ritrovate per Sarti Antonio (SEM), while at 6:30 pm at the Rizzoli Galleria bookshop, Mariolina Venezia and her Eccheccavolo. Il mondo secondo Imma Tataranni (Einaudi), will be introduced by Isabella Fava.

Cinema and advertising are the bedfellows under discussion on Tuesday, at the event to present the latest issue of Cinecittà’s magazine 8 ½, featuring speakers Gianni Canova, Giorgio Gosetti, Prof. Guido Cornara, and the filmmaker Federico Brugia (at 3 pm, IULM 6 – Sala dei 146).
