  Villa Tre Pini
by Marco Polillo

Rizzoli, 2012
A year has gone by since the Orta San Giulio investigation and it’s time for a new adventure for Milanese Deputy Commissioner Enea Zottia, whose relationship with Serena Bonfanti continues despite the uncertainties of both. Looking for a distraction, Serena accepts an invitation to spend Christmas in the hills above Lake Maggiore, in the villa of her friend Maria Carla, the wife of irascible, bizarre publisher Aureliano Severi. Everything seems to be going swimmingly at Villa Tre Pini, for old and new friends alike, but upon his arrival Zottia senses that something is awry. When one of the guests dies tragically, past tragedies and inconvenient truths resurface explosively.

Marco Polillo (Milan) was head of the Mondadori publishing company from 1973 to 1985, before working at Rizzoli from 1985 to 1988. For years he has been running the publishing company that bears his name, which specializes in entertaining Anglo-American fiction. A lover of crime stories, he has edited numerous anthologies in the genre. He is currently president of the Association of Italian Publishers. He has published four novels, all of which feature Deputy Commissioner Enea Zottìa.
