When the body of a young nurse who disappeared 25 years ago is found in Grande Pack, Greenland, kneeling and semi-nude, her ankles and wrists bound, Commissioner Konrad Simonsen and the Homicide Unit of Copenhagen are on the case. A man of staunch moral principles, Simonsen is nevertheless having problems with his daughter Anna Mia, whom he feels he’s ignoring, in part because he’s just started seeing the Countess, a woman of high birth, although their relationship is also fraught with incomprehension and misunderstandings. The Unit is rounded out by Arne Pederson, with marital problems of his own; Pauline; computer whiz Malthe Brop; and Paul Troulsen. Danish brother and sister Søren and Lotte Hammer live in a small town north of Copenhagen. He teaches Math, English and Danish at an elementary school. She has worked as a nurse in Greece, Germany, Greenland, and even on an oil rig. Lotte is also a member of the Halsnæs town council, to which she was elected in 2007 through the Social Democratic Party. They made their literary debut with Svinehunde, the first of a series of thrillers featuring Commissioner Konrad Simonsen and the Homicide Unit of Copenhagen. Alting har sin pris is the second book of the series. Both novels are published by the new series of Feltrinelli and FoxCrime, which opened this year as a joint venture between a publisher and the most popular satellite channel devoted to crime fiction.
