Il sangue di Montalcino is Giovanni Negri’s noir debut. In a story set among wine experts, one of the world’s best, Roberto Candido, is found dead under a fresco of St. Christopher in the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, nestled among the Franciacorta vineyards. The case is assigned to Police Commissioner Cosulich, an urbane and taciturn man not insensitive to feminine charms, who must also deal with CNN’s interest in the proceedings. A mystery on wine and the divine, it appears that Candido had stumbled across something forbidden and sacrilegious, the truth of which lies in the ancient past, when the First Grape grew in the gardens of Mesopotamia. |
