When consultant psychiatrist Ellen Roth agrees to treat a severely traumatized patient, little does she realize that the case is about to take over her life. The woman begs for protection from the “soot man” and disappears from the clinic before Ellen can work out who she is. Determined to find her, Ellen launches her own investigation and becomes a target for a sinister abductor, who lays a macabre trail of clues for her to follow. If Ellen fails to solve the soot man’s riddles, both she and her patient will die. Trigger will be adapted for the cinema.
