Eight-year-old Lola Arendt vanishes while on vacation on a Scottish island. Shattered by her disappearance, her parents, Sarah and Martin, separate. Two years later, Lola is found at the exact same spot, seemingly in good health. Martin returns to the island to bring her home. His delight at being reunited with Lola soon gives way to suspicion and fear. Why won't Lola talk? Who are these men watching them? What did Sarah know about Lola's sudden reappearance? When the weather conspires to stop them leaving, Martin and Lola embark on a journey across the island, headed for a tragic discovery. 'In 2003, I made a film, Dissonance, based on Stephen Dixon’s novel Interstate, about a father who self-destructs while obsessively trying to hunt down the man who killed his young daughter. I wanted to take on a similar topic again, but this time about a character who, unlike in the other film, puts himself back together'. [Jérôme Cornuau]
