The international film jury – comprising French writer Tito Topin (president), Italian actors Guido Caprino, Carlotta Natoli and Silvio Orlando, and director of the Sitges Fantasy Film Festival Angel Sala – say: “First and foremost, we would like to thank the selectors for the great and varied quality of the films at the festival's 20th edition, which made our work all that much harder and more passionate.'
Their prizes go to the following films:
CINEMA VALLE D’AOSTA AWARD - BLACK LION FOR BEST FILM
Carancho by Pablo Trapero (Argentina)
for offering a timely and strong vision of contemporary Argentinean society though an impeccable use of the grammar of the noir genre.
BEST PERFORMANCE AWARD
Stellan Skarsgard in
En Ganske Snill Mann / A Somewhat Gentle Man by Hans Petter Moland (Norway)
for his work on the character of Ulrik, through which he conveyed seemingly passive yet extraordinary human force and irony.

Simon Werner a Disparu… / Lights Out di Fabrice Gobert (France)
Using two completely different forms, these two films express the evolution and elasticity of the noir genre: The Housemaid for having modernized the classic approach to the genre with extraordinary mastery; Simon Werner for the breath of fresh air it brings to noir, using it as a pretext to look at young people today.

We especially enjoyed the documentary’s human approach, its cinematographic quality as well as the way the directors followed the boxer Benito Eufemia.
