The 2008 Raymond Chandler Award to Alicia Giménez-Bartlett

 18/11/2008
The Raymond Chandler Award is being presented this year to Catalan writer Alicia Giménez-Bartlett, the ironic and politically incorrect voice of this year’s women’s noir to whom the NoirFest is dedicating a public Q&A moderated by Loredana Lipperini and animated by the experiences of Sweden’s Lisa Marklund, Britain’s Sharon Bolton and Italian writers Simona Vinci, Elisabetta Bucciarelli and Chiara Tozzi.

In honor of Catalan culture Courmayeur will also host a great maestro Francisco Gonzalez Ledesma and the year’s logo was designed by Joma, the nom de plume of Josep María Rius, the noted Catalan designer of La Vanguardia.

The Dark Page, the section dedicated to the best of noir literature, will this year host 11 writers whose stories have been adapted or will be adapted into films. Of note are Tom Rob Smith (Child 44), Marcus Sakey (The Blade Itself), Victor Gischler (Gun Monkeys), Delacorta (Nanà), Don Winslow (The Winter of Frankie Machine) and the five finalists from among which the literary jury will chose the Giorgio Scerbanenco Prize – La Stampa for the Best Italian Noir of the Year. As is tradition, the festival will also present the winner of the Alberto Tedeschi-Mondadori Award for Best Italian Novel to be published.
