Jeff Lindsay is the pseudonym of American author Jeffry P. Freundlich, who lives in southern Florida with his three children and wife, the writer Hilary Hemingway (niece of Ernest), with whom he wrote his first novels in the early 1990s. Lindsay was a musician, singer-songwriter, actor, comedian, radio sportscaster and a writer for theatre and television before dedicating himself entirely to novel writing, after the smashing success of Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2005), the first of a series on cop/murderer Dexter Morgan, a serial killer of serial killers. Besides being on the film jury at Courmayeur, Lindsay is also presenting Dearly Devoted Dexter, an unconventional thriller with a main character who has already become one of the most original and fascinating figures on the recent crime-writing scene. With an off-camera narration that draws readers in with tones at time cynical, morbid and humorous, Dexter is a modern-day Doctor Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, simultaneously ambiguous and moral, human and beastly, demoniac and naïve, capable of hiding his homicidal tendencies behind a façade of total normalcy. Darkly Dreaming Dexter spawned the equally successful Showtime television series Dexter (broadcast in Italy on FoxCrime). |
