«Are you a killer?». È la domanda che Debra, sua sorella adottiva, fa a Dexter dopo che nell’ultima puntata della sesta stagione l'ha visto uccidere a sangue freddo Travis, il fanatico religioso dell’apocalisse. E nasce una nuova storia, quella in cui Dexter non può più mimetizzarsi agli occhi di sua sorella, e quella in cui Debra dovrà domandarsi se essere complice o poliziotta. Nel frattempo nuovi nemici si profilano all’orizzonte, Isaak, il mafioso venuto dalla Russia, e nuove tentazioni mettono in subbuglio la mente di Dexter, Hannah la femme fatale che sfugge ai codici, persino quelli rigorosi del killer dei killer.
