The television series Agatha Christie: Poirot stars David Suchet as Hercule Poirot. Mystery, suspense and a good dose of English humor have made it a timeless classic for lovers of the genre. Originally produced by London Weekend Television and then by Granada Production, the series has been on British TV since January 8, 1989. Sixtysix episodes have aired, some based on Christie’s short stories from the 1920s, which run approximately half an hour, while episodes based on her novels run 100 minutes.
Returning to London from Istanbul on the Orient Express, Hercule Poirot is hired to protect shady American traveler Samuel Ratchett, yet the latter nevertheless winds up dead, of multiple stab wounds. Poirot starts investigating the clues and suspects, including a Russian princess, a German maid, a Hungarian diplomat and his wife, and a Swedish missionary. The detective also discovers that Ratchett had ties to the Mafia and was responsible, among other crimes, for the kidnapping and murder of a five-year-old American girl. Poirot is tormented by just one question: has justice been served? |
