A memorable evening event unfolds at the IULM University in Milan on Sunday, December 11th at 9 p.m., courtesy of 20th Century Fox and filmmaker Tim Burton. Noir in Festival pays homage to this director’s unique talent with a special screening of his new masterpiece, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (scheduled for release by 20th Century Fox on December 15th, 2016).
For young audiences (admission is free, but tickets need to be booked in advance), this screening will be a night to remember, since the director of Edward Scissorhands has always freely roamed the frontiers of the dark fairy tale, fantasy film, poetry and sheer imagination, exercising his signature blend of creative freedom and originality that is a strong draw for new noir fans.
"This screening is a real jewel in the crown of our brand-new Noir in Festival and its lineup," declare Giorgio Gosetti and Marina Fabbri, "an event that kicks off in Como with a truly special pre-opening event on December 7th, when Roberto Saviano receives the Raymond Chandler Award, and comes to Milan on Sunday the 11th, opening there with this tribute we feel very strongly about."
"For IULM University, the festival’s Official Partner and its ‘innovation laboratory’," adds Gianni Canova, "this grand opening in Milan marks the launch of our collaboration with Noir, which will involves our students throughout the week in workshops, screenings, conferences and other initiatives. But the Sunday, December 11th evening event represents the real seal of approval for the new formula adopted for this historic festival."
Before the premiere of the Tim Burton film in the brand-new IULM Auditorium (via Carlo Bo, 7), an exhibition of works by the Milan artist Pietro Finelli, "Acque scure", will be inaugurated, devoted to the iconic atmosphere of classic noir films.
