It’s the early 1990s in Italy, but the country’s genetic makeup - in a world not yet transformed by the technological revolution - seems completely different from what it is today. A leading mobster’s son is kidnapped, a crime no one reports, though everyone knows it’s happened. His father is sure that he can get to the bottom of it with no outside help, but that won’t be the case. Called in to investigate, Marshal Pietro Fenoglio of the Carabinieri, originally from Piedmont, now stationed in southern Italy, gets bogged down in a murky business indeed, against the backdrop of the Mafia’s obscure rituals.
