Il tempo delle iene

In Il tempo delle iene, the third book in Lucarelli’s colonial trilogy about Eritrea that started with L’ottava vibrazione (2008) and continued with Albergo Italia (2014), readers re-encounter Captain Colaprico of the Royal Corps of Carabinieri, now facing a rash of suspicious deaths in the harsh reality of the Italian colony of Eritrea. With the help of his trusty buluk-bashi Ogbà, Colaprico investigates this odd series of deaths, the only witness to which may possibly be the ‘witch’, an old woman who has disappeared from her isolated hut out where the hyenas roam.
Carlo Lucarelli, winner of the 1996 Scerbanenco Award for Via delle Oche, is the inventor of the popular characters who appear in his books and on the small screen, the big screen and the radio. They include Inspector Coliandro, featured in the new series directed by the Manetti brothers and premiering at Courmayeur; Commissioner De Luca and Inspector Grazia Negro. A writer for film and comic strips, in 2012 Lucarelli made his directorial debut with L’isola dell’angelo caduto, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival. "Radio Bellablù", "Blu notte", "La tredicesima ora", and "Muse inquietanti" are the TV programs in which Lucarelli has addressed crime and Italian culture today with incomparable narrative skill.
