Partially inspired by her friendship with the violinist H.E.R., this second novel by the Neapolitan singer-songwriter is a Bildungsroman, a tale of transformation with noirish overtones that centers on Karmen, an acclaimed violinist but also a beautiful, sensual woman with a dark past. A musician, singer and author, De Sio is well known to the public at large for her songs and her personal take on folk rock; in 2005 she also starred in a film about her concerts, Craj, directed by Davide Marengo, in which De Sio shares the stage with Giovanni Lindo Ferretti. She made her literary debut in 2009 with her first novel, Metti il diavolo a ballare, which won the Rapallo Carige Award for Best Debut Novel.
