Adolfo, a thirty-something security guard, is going through a bad patch. Not only has his lifetime girlfriend dumped him for being a guy with no ambition but he has also become the target of Vázquez, a dangerous criminal who has just escaped from jail. Next he discovers that his father has a double identity: hardly the simple farmer Adolfo believed him to be, he’s really Anacleto, a secret agent who had locked up Vázquez thirty years earlier. To survive the revenge of Vázquez, Adolfo will have to leave his comfort zone, work with the father he has never gotten along with, and try to get his girlfriend back.
"From the beginning, the idea was to make Anacleto a credible character. What has happened to him since he disappeared from the newstands? Given that the comics ceased publication over thirty years ago, we had the possibility to update them, imagining what could have happened since then. To place a classic character, a spy from the 60’s and 70’s, in 2015 was hilarious to us; on the other hand, it seemed to be an idea inherited from Vazquez himself. But it is mainly the story of a father and his son, of two strangers forced to share an adventure over the course of which, while squabbling and spilling their secrets, they will get to know each other at last." [Javier Ruiz Caldera]
After graduating from ESCAC (the Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia), Javier Ruiz Caldera alternated editing and directing, making the internationally acclaimed shortTreitum and editing Parque vía by Mexican filmmaker Enrique Rivero; the film would win the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival in 2008. Ruiz Caldera showed a natural bent for comedy as early as his debut featureSpanish Movie (2009). In 2012 his film Ghost Graduation, a teen comedy that doubled as a send-up of a horror flick, earned him the Audience Award and Jury Prize at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. In 2013, he turned out a romantic comedy, 3 Many Weddings, showcased at Venice Days.
