In Lyon, France, the head of the crime division, Kader Cherif loves what he does for a living: he has dreamed of serving his country in the police force since he was a child, when his heroes were the icons of cult TV series like Colombo, Kojak, and Starsky & Hutch. But his verve and rather unconventional methods for solving crimes rub his enticing new teammate, Detective Adeline Briard, decidedly the wrong way. She plays by the rules and disapproves of Cherif’s modus operandi, or tries to, at least, because something tells her their relationship won’t be strictly professional.

Blood Ties
Cherif and his new partner Adeline Briard try to get their very different investigative styles into sync when a young man dies, beaten to death in a "pink room" in a building in Lyon.
