Three women call the shots at the housing project in Via Damasco in Bologna; they're nicknamed the Sultans. Wilma is a petite, shrewd tradeswoman who can’t come to terms with a loss and fights with her daughter Melania. Mafalda is the stingy wife and caregiver of a husband who has Alzheimer's. Nunzia is an overeating bigot and religious fanatic who always finds the time to extort the latest gossip. When their little lives are forced to change, the trio does something even they had never dared before.
