L’ipotesi del male [Longanesi]
"Have you ever wanted to disappear?" Sooner or later, we’ve all felt that desire, to disappear. To escape from everything. To leave it all behind us. For some people, it’s more than just a fleeting thought. It becomes an obsession that devours them. These people disappear into the dark. No one knows why. No one knows where they end up. And almost everyone forgets them. But Mila Vasquez is surrounded by them. Every time she sets foot in the missing persons office - Limbo - hundreds of eyes stare at her from the walls covered in photographs. She can’t forget those who have vanished into thin air. Also because this cop has herself experienced the dark, like red flowers rooted in her soul. Perhaps that’s why Mila is the best at what she does, tracking down those the world has forgotten. But what if they returned all of a sudden, with sinister intentions? Like a riptide, the dark returns first objects of a past life - then people. They seem just like before, but evil has changed them. Who took them? Where were they all this time? And why did they come back?

Donato Carrisi (1973) was born in Martina Franca (in the province of Taranto) and lives in Rome. After obtaining a degree in Law, with a thesis on Luigi Chiatti (a.k.a. The latter include Nassiriya - Prima della fine (Canale 5) and the mini-series thriller Era mio fratello (RAI1). He writes for Il Corriere della Sera and is author of the novel Il Suggeritore (2009, The Whisperer). In 2011 he published his second successful book, Il tribunale delle anime (The Lost Girls of Rome), which was a Scerbanenco Prize finalist. In 2012 established his talent internationally as well, with The Woman of Paper Flowers.
