In his second adventure, private eye Leonardo Lorenzi, flanked by his friends Max (a skilled hacker and good-looking as hell) and Todeschini (the old owner of the P.I. agency Lorenzi used to work for) is once again plunged into the science world. While the first novel centered on the Physics department at the University of Milan, this time the action takes place in a large hospital in Lombardy, where three radiation machines used to cure tumors - which could also be used to build a dirty bomb - mysteriously disappear, along with a resident of medical physics. Featuring CL party members, Islamic fundamentalists, fascist thugs, corrupt politicians and Calabrians of the ndrangheta, Ucciderai corrotti e infedeli is a journey into Lombardy, and plays out along the subtle and increasingly shaky and indistinct line between legality and dishonesty.
An adopted Milanese, Federico Tavola (Lecco, 1976) has worked as an analyst, statistician and Science Museum guide. He graduated in Biophysics from the University of Milan, where he teaches and conducts research in the field of medical physics. He loves writing for the possibility it gives him to express himself freely, a passion born long ago, he says, "In the mountains, when I was 12 and was watching the rain darken the rocks. At that moment, writing became a necessity." His books feature private eye Leonardo Lorenzi, who was born in 1967, is very tall and has large, sweet and reassuring green eyes. A Boston Celtics fan, Lorenzi hates happy hours, he doesn’t get into fights, has a Facebook profile and doesn’t have a terrible life. Says Tavola: "I wanted a character who was free. I created someone who is to me the ideal modern hero. Someone who takes responsibility for doing what needs to be done without wondering if it’s right or legal."
